SPECIAL MEETING

Council Chamber:

Mayor Burzichelli presided at the Special Meeting of Council held on the above date and place.

Borough Clerk VanScoy read the opening statement regarding the Open Public Meetings Act.

Members present were: Giovannitti, Haynes, Hamilton, Kidd, Morina, Tedeski. Absent: None.

Mayor Burzichelli opened the floor to the public.

Barry Corradetti, 1820 Overbrook Avenue, on behalf of the Neighborhood Watch Association, read a letter to Mayor and Council stating that they strongly urge the Mayor and Council to accept and agree to all stipulations of the COPS Hiring Recovery Program Grant.

Mayor Burzichelli stated Council has discussed the COPS Hiring Recovery Program Grant at the last meeting and asked if Council was ready to vote on whether to accept the Grant.

R. #138.09: RESOLUTION OF APPROVAL TO ACCEPT THE GRANT FOR THE COPS HIRING RECOVERY PROGRAM FOR THE BOROUGH OF PAULSBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE BOROUGH OF PAULSBORO. Haynes moved and Tedeski seconded to adopt R. #138.09. Roll call: Ayes: Haynes, Hamilton, Morina, Tedeski. Nays: Giovannitti, Kidd. Motion carried.

Mayor Burzichelli stated Council will be convening in Executive Session to hold the Sergeant’s interviews with four candidates.

Council President Haynes recused himself from this portion of the meeting.

R. #139.09: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN EXECUTIVE SESSION

OF THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF PAULSBORO, COUNTY OF GLOUCESTER, STATE OF NEW JERSEY. Giovannitti moved and Hamilton seconded to adopt R. #139.09. Roll call: Ayes: Giovannitti, Hamilton, Kidd, Morina, Tedeski. Nays: None. Motion carried.

At this time, 5:54 p.m., Mayor and Council went into Executive Session.

Giovannitti moved and Hamilton seconded to open the Executive Session meeting at 6:54 p.m. All were in favor of the motion.

Mayor Burzichelli opened the meeting to the public at 6:55 p.m.

R. #140.09: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BOROUGH OF PAULSBORO TO PROMOTE TIMOTHY SUTER AS SERGEANT FOR THE BOROUGH OF PAULSBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT. Kidd moved and Hamilton seconded to adopt R. #140.09. Roll call: Ayes: Giovannitti, Hamilton, Kidd, Morina, Tedeski. Nays: None. Motion carried.

Administrator Salvatore stated this promotion will take effect on Monday, October 12, 2009.

There weren’t any further discussions for Executive Session.
