PAULSBORO … A COMMUNITY OF PRIDE AND GROWTH
Current Activities 2005:
T-21, Highway Enhancement Project: Construction is underway for phase I of the Street Scape from Chestnut Street to Broad Street. The Borough has been awarded funding for the Phase II. The second phase will duplicate Phase I and will continue along Broad Street to Spruce Street, also down North Delaware to Buck Street.
Façade, CDBG: Eleven businesses received funding that has added to the ongoing beautification project of our business district.
Commercial 50/50 Grant: The Neighborhood Preservation Grant funds this grant. Since 2001, nine business owners have received matching funds to do interior and exterior repairs. For the year 2004, the amount of funding per business has been increased from $5,000.00 to $ 10,000.00.
Veterans Centennial Park Grant: Demolition and ground preparation has been completed. An additional grant from CDBG will allow the Borough to complete project.
Expansion of Ambulance Building: Through the assistance of a USDA grant/loan, the ambulance squad will be able to increase the square footage of the building to house equipment and additional vehicles.
Neighborhood Preservation Program: Since 2001, the housing rehabilitation element of this grant has reached out to over 43 homeowners to repair their homes and increase the value of their properties, as well as the entire neighborhood. This is the last year of this grant; a new Grant will be applied for this year to insure the continuation of meeting the needs of our citizens and also to assist our local business owners
Regional Contribution Agreement Grant (RCA): $1.2 million dollars has been awarded to the Borough of Paulsboro for housing rehabilitation throughout the entire Borough. This will enhance market values and increase real estate activity. This grant will be able to assist approximately 50 homeowners over the next five years.
Paulsboro Home Purchase Program: The Borough of Paulsboro is a qualified HMFA recipient. Under this program, 1st time homebuyers have many options to purchase a home. We refer prospective homebuyers to USDA and Gloucester County Community Development Housing Office, PLUS we offer The American Dream Program through one of our affiliated mortgage companies.
